We do reuse plastic bags for a long time. It’s simple math – you buy your grocery twice a week with four-three bags and use them after for domestic garbage.
I recently open the drawer where we keep small pool of them and found nothing except couple of odd small pouches not possible to be used for any purpose.

Plastic Bag - reuse and recycle

Of course, I can go shopping next time and buy a bunch but is it really diminishing the purpose of  new rule of pricing them at 5 cents?  Even further, I can go to retail store and buy garbage bags and that also has nothing to do with environmental hazard elimination and doesn’t bring any sense either.  And look – the fabric bags we have been promoting since new rules apply, are product that is consuming much more natural resources and labour than plastic, made somewhere at outsource and shipped from half of the globe away. They definitely can be environmentally beneficial if used many-many times. Guess, this nickel fee is another indicator how we again chase trivial instead of doing what is really required.
